An Appalachian Summer Festival 2008
SkyBest will be the Mainstage Series sponsor of An Appalachian Summer Festival, the monthlong cultural arts series held on the campus of Appalachian State University that features programs in music, theatre, dance and visual arts. The Mainstage Series features a total of nine performance events in Farthing Auditorium, highlighted by such notables as Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, Judy Collins, the Count Basie Orchestra, the Aspen/Sante Fe Ballet, Phoebe Snow and the popular Irish-American Celtic music group Cherish the Ladies. Presented annually by the University's Office of Arts and Cultural Programs, An Appalachian Summer Festival is attended by more than 25,000 people, and has emerged as one of the nation's most innovative and highly regarded regional, multidisciplinary arts festivals. For many years, the festival has been named one of the "Top 20 Events in the Southeast" by the Southeast Tourism Society. Check out www.appsummer.org for full details and information.
