WEST JEFFERSON, N.C. -- SkyLine Membership Corporation officials report that a service interruption in late May impacting some Ashe County customers was caused by vandals, and a reward is being offered.
SkyLine’s fiber-optic facilities on Highway 221 North at the intersection with Chinquapin Ridge Road in the Scottville community of Ashe County were damaged on the morning of May 29. The vandalism resulted in a service outage lasting for approximately six hours and impacting 52 telephone, broadband and TV service customers.
A $500 cash reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for the vandalism of its facilities. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Ashe County Sheriff’s Department at 336-846-5633 or Crime Stoppers at 336-846-4188.
