WEST JEFFERSON, N.C.-- Since teaming up with DIRECTV, you may have heard that SkyBest TV is going to be phased out. Read on to learn what this means, and what it doesn’t.
In recent years, content providers have asked increasingly high rates to air their channels on SkyBest TV, and every year we engage in negotiations to try and keep rates as low as possible for our customers. Recently, SkyLine/SkyBest has also experienced content providers who simply stop delivering their content to SkyBest TV. Although SkyLine/SkyBest has no control over this, we feel it is unfair to our members and customers. To help SkyLine/SkyBest better serve our customers, we have partnered with DirecTV.
What does “partnering” with DirecTV mean? This means that residents interested in DirecTV programming can work directly with SkyBest to sign up for service. SkyBest will help walk you through the DirecTV account process and ensure you have the correct number of devices for your home.
What is SkyBest’s role in the partnership? SkyBest will continue to do what we do best – reliable internet and phone service. As opposed to the satellite model DirecTV uses in other areas, SkyBest’s fiber network will be the backbone of service delivered through our partnership. DIRECTV via an internet connection will provide a consistent viewing experience.
Will SkyBest continue to offer other services? Yes, SkyBest will not only continue to offer phone, internet and security services, we are expanding our service territory every day. With more than 30,000 internet customers across western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee, SkyBest is on track to reach hundreds of new homes and businesses over the next few years.
When is SkyBest TV going away? We currently expect to sunset SkyBest TV by the end of 2025. We are working diligently to make the transition from SkyBest TV as easy as possible for our members and customers.
