Established in 1998 by SkyLine Membership Corp., SkyBest Communications extends the reach of SkyLine’s commitment to providing state of the art communications and technology solutions with unbeatable customer service. In its role as a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC), SkyBest has offered dial tone service to the West Jefferson/Jefferson communities of Ashe County since 2003 with expansions to Boone, NC in 2008, Lenoir, NC in 2016, Mountain City, TN in 2017 and Blowing Rock, NC in 2020. In January of 2022 the Watauga County Board of Commissioners announced that SkyLine/SkyBest, in partnership with Blue Ridge Energy, was the recipient of 7.75 million dollars to complete a broadband expansion project; in September of that same year, Tennessee's Department of Economic and Community Development awarded us over five million dollars to expand broadband to over 1,500 homes and businesses in specific areas of Carter and Johnson counties.
